On Sept, 24th, Li Yuchun unveiled her wax figure in Madame Tussauds Shanghai. She is the first mainland singer and the youngest celebrity to have a replica being put up there, joining her are superstars such as Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson in the museum’s “music stars” section.
An extensive investigation and market research has always been mandatory before Madame Tussauds introduces new celebrities into its wax museum, aiming to choose only the top of the cream.
This means that the consideration for a celebrity whose replica is to be made does not solely based on his or her outstanding achievement in his/ her own field but he or she has to be admired and respected by the public. And no doubt, Li Yuchun fits the shoes perfectly!
As what Manager Bret Pidgeon states:”Madame Tussauds Shanghai aims to present more and more outstanding Chinese celebrities to the mainland audience. Li Yuchun is the icon of Chinese pop music and modern culture, and I believe her presence here will make every visitor happy.”
At the wax opening, Li Yuchun was obviously very excited: “I feel that I’ve just got a twin. Thank you for inviting me to have the sitting. Having my own wax standing alongside with other world famous superstars is indeed an affirmation and encouragement for me and my work .”
After winning the Super Girl contest, Li Yuchun continues to achieve one milestome after one another. In 2009, she saw another starting point of her career by acting in her very first movie entitled “Bodyguards and Assassins”.
However, her main focus and passion is still music. In her new self-titled album that was released earlier, she is involved in and owned 80% of the production and the album took a remarkable turnover, receiving excellent compliments and appreaciation from both critiques and mass audience.
In the area of giving back to society (charity), Chris’s contribution is nowhere less inferior to her artistic achievements. The “LIYUCHUN Fans Charity Fund”or known as the “Yumi Charity Fund” is infact the first charity program that was named after fans in Mainland, and this immediately triggered a donation craze for children with leukemia. Additionally, shortly after the May 12th Earthquake, Li Yuchun who was borned in Shichuan took no time to donate her blood for the victims. And together with her fans, they have raised a donation of more than 5 million RMB for her fund till today, such gestures and efforts are greatly appreciated and praised by the public.
She has made own her fairy tales one after another, and now the legend still continues and it will always continue.
